Members of the UK Armed Forces and their families will be given
the chance to experience one of the world's showpiece sporting
occasions next month, the Engage Super League Grand Final, as part
of the Tickets for Troops initiative.
A total of 1,000 free tickets will be supplied to services
personnel for the climax to the Engage Super League season at Old
Trafford on Saturday October 2, a match which has always ranked as
one of the highlights of the sporting calendar.
RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: "The Grand Final is a
magnificent occasion that showcases the very best in club Rugby
League and we are therefore delighted to be able to share this
event with 1,000 of our dedicated service men and women and
demonstrate our appreciation for their commitment and work across
the world."
Raleigh Addington, Operations Director of Tickets For Troops,
commented: "Tickets For Troops is extremely grateful to the RFL for
being one of our most generous ticket donors."
"It is a huge boost to the morale of the troops to have their
commitment and dedication recognised in this way and we are
thrilled to have the support from so many organisations."
Tickets For Troops is an independent charity that was set up last
year to provide top tickets to musical, cultural and sporting
events. It has been given over 200,000 tickets by organisations
wanting to show their support of the Armed Forces. Since its
launch, over 65,000 troops have registered for the scheme.
