ENGLAND FOOTBALLERS SUPPORTED BY OUR NATIONAL HEROES
The England Football Team can expect a warm welcome to Wembley this Thursday, 9th October as hundreds of serving, wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women watch England play San Marino in the Euro 2016 Qualifier.
The FA are yet again supporting our military heroes by getting behind Tickets For Troops. They have provided hundreds of free tickets to members of the Armed Forces including to a large group currently based at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court.
It will be the first time that over one hundred wounded, injured and sick service personnel will be travelling from Headley Court to Wembley together through the Tickets For Troops initiative to enjoy an evening supporting their favourite English players.
Wayne Rooney, Captain of the England National Football Team said: "We're always incredibly proud as players to run out at Wembley and it’s a special feeling that there will be members of our Armed Forces in attendance tonight including a large group from Headley Court.
“The work undertaken at Headley Court is vital to the recovery and rehabilitation of our servicemen and women injured in conflict.
“It’s great that the partnership between The FA and Tickets For Troops gives them a well-deserved chance for some enjoyment and time away from the hard work of their rehabilitation.”
Headley Court is the home of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. The primary aim of the staff and patients working together is to help Servicemen and women to make the best recovery possible from injury or illness. For most combat casualties, Headley Court is the final stage of the rehabilitation process as treatments are focused on returning Service personnel to the best level of function possible.
This includes the treatment of complex injuries, including those of amputees and brain-injured patients, plus the majority of the centres work treating various musculoskeletal injuries.
Veronica Bamford, Director of Operations at Tickets For Troops visited Headley Court this week and said “Having visited Headley Court earlier this week, I am yet again reminded how important it is for these opportunities to be provided for our courageous servicemen and women who go above and beyond for our country. We are extremely proud that organisations like The FA continue to get behind our Armed Forces and we are glad that Tickets For Troops can help facilitate some well-deserved down time for our service personnel.”
