CHALLENGE EVENT: TOTAL WARRIOR 2014
DO YOU THINK YOU CAN BECOME KING OF THE MOUNTAIN?
We’re offering our members the chance to join 10,000 warriors in the Lake District on 3rd August to take part in TOTAL WARRIOR – known as the toughest 10 mile event on earth – for FREE in return for some volunteering and fundraising!
If you think you have the STRENGTH, STAMINA & MENTAL DETERMINATION for this…please read on!
What is Total Warrior?
Total Warrior is a challenge not a race! However, they fully believe in competition and applaud anyone who wants to try and set the fastest time. You can enter the Lake District event as an individual or as part of the Tickets For Troops team. Teams can either work together to make sure every member completes the course (carrying team mates if necessary!) or they can fight it out for the ultimate bragging rights.
Be prepared for steep hills, mud, water and fire (and maybe even ice!) as they put you through their specially designed gruelling course. Not everyone will finish, but those who do will be greeted with a victory beer…and maybe even a hose pipe to clean up, if you’re lucky! Click here for course and obstacle info
Participants will set off in intervals every 25 minutes (from 10am to 11.15am – you select your preferred wave when registering) and electronic timing chips will be used, so even if you cross the line first, you may not have set the fastest time of the day. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the day so make sure you hang around to cheer on other Warriors, socialise, claim your free victory beer and enjoy the live music. There are also prizes for fastest times, best & worst costume and special spot prizes for participants who have overcome hardship in one way or another.
Which event can you participate in?
Sunday 3rd August at Shap Abbey, The Lake District, CA10 3NB
The Lake District is the Adventure Capital of the UK and is the home of Total Warrior, which is now going into its fourth year. It is the perfect venue for an obstacle race with endless hills, rivers, mud (tonnes of it!), woodland and the rugged Lake District terrain. This is before the 25 – 30 punishing Total Warrior obstacles even get a mention!
What does the weekend involve?
By entering the ballot, members will be signing up for a day’s volunteering on August 2nd, offering a helping hand on the morning of 3rd and then the all important challenge later that day!
What does the volunteering involve and why do you have to do it?
Total Warrior event volunteers help with everything from event set up, registration, car park, photography & filming, obstacle marshalling, refreshments, water station, finish line, river crossings and many other things. All volunteers are invaluable to the smooth running of the event and are undoubtedly one of the major assets of the Total Warrior events.
As part of our agreement with the Total Warrior team, TFT members will have to commit to volunteer on August 2nd in order to gain their place on the course. Not only will this be a great way to meet similar minded folk and give other competitors a helping hand but it may also give you an advantage as you will be able to check the course out ahead of challenge day!
Please note, the volunteer-competitor package will also include free camping!

Do you have to fundraise?
We would like to ask all competitors to fundraise for Tickets For Troops and will encourage you to share your stories, pictures and the course video with your friends and families to encourage them to donate! We will of course be on hand to help you set up your bmycharity fundraising page and send you sponsorship forms!
